Today 17 July 2023, TRADE MINISTER Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana officially received the first cargo imported into Cameroon under the AfCFTA regime at the Port of Kribi.
He was joined in this exercise by Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, Chairman of the Ad-hoc sub-committee in charge of facilitating the implementation of AfCFTA's Guided Trade Initiative, Patrice Melom, General Manager of the Port Authority of Kribi, local administrative authorities, and His Excellency Karim Ben Becher, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia, country of origin of the cargo.
Comprised of a container of resin imported by INODA INDUSTRIES SARL, the shipment benefited from a 30% customs duty reduction.
The operation is part of the pilot phase for the implementation of the free trade agreement in Cameroon and makes evident the effectiveness of tariff dismantling in Cameroon for imports from African countries.
