The Douala Maritime Museum (DMM) has been on show since 26 September 2025 at the village hosting festivities to mark the 150th anniversary of the Port Authority of Douala-Bonabéri.
Set up at Club PAD in Bonanjo, the museum's stand is a real eye-catcher thanks to its richness and originality. Visitors to the stand can discover Cameroon's maritime history, going from the colonial era when the country was still called Rio dos Camaroes, to the establishment of the port.
The stand also features rare photographs of the city before independence—the Douala airport, Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Wouri pagoda, and the docks of the old port. Other attractions include dug-out canoes, ships, aquatic life in the Wouri River, and emblematic items of the Sawa culture, a people with strong cultural ties to water.
After attending the official ceremony launching the festivities and presided over by Prime Minister Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, CNSC's General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, visited the 150th Anniversary Village. He was keen to share CNSC's vision with visitors who stopped by the stand, which is to make the Douala Maritime Museum a depository of history and cultural heritage.
The Douala Maritime Museum's stand at the PAD 150th Anniversary Village will remain open to the public until 3 October 2025.
