Union of African Shippers' Councils (UASC)
The working session of the UASC Steering Committee held on 9 May 2023 in Dakar was marked by the plea in defense of the Shippers' Councils of landlocked countries. Their situation as countries with no access to navigable waters is detrimental to their economic growth.
Moreover, given the current economic situation, the statutory Treasurer of the Union called for urgent reflection to relieve the financial constraints of disadvantaged member councils. It was proposed that the General Assembly scheduled for 10 May 2023 should adopt a resolution that would reduce by ¼ the annual contributions of these member councils from landlocked countries.
This proposal by CNSC's General Manager was made following the presentation of his financial report as of 21 March 2023.
