At the invitation of the US Department of State, a Cameroonian delegation led by the Ministry of Transport and comprising stakeholders from the port and maritime sectors, including the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), the Port Authority of Douala (PAD), the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), and the Douala Maritime District, is attending the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) in the United States from 8 to 22 November 2025.
The workshop forms part of the US Maritime Port Security Programme and mainly seeks to strengthen maritime cooperation between Cameroon and the United States in the areas of port and maritime safety and security. For the Cameroonian experts, it is an opportunity to gain practical exposure to American standards, systems and best practices in counter-terrorism, risk assessment, surveillance and ISPS Code enforcement.
Key topics to be addressed during the workshop will include national priorities and practices for port security, enforcement of maritime regulations, compliance with international safety and security standards, inter-agency coordination on port security and prevention of illegal acts, as well as public-private partnerships in the field of maritime security.
