As part of the activities in preparation for the celebration of the 137th edition of the International Labour Day on May 1st, staff of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) organised an information and awareness-raising session on maritime professions at Lycée Joss in Douala today, 24 April 2023.
The purpose of this initiative was to familiarise students of the lower and upper-sixth forms of the school on various professions in the maritime sector, often unknown to the public. The session was equally an opportunity to enlighten the students on the CNSC's missions and its role in Cameroon’s maritime landscape.
CNSC Director of Assistance to Shippers, Mrs. Claire Onana Takouchop, led her colleagues in this exercise and set the stage for exciting and fruitful discussions during her opening remarks.
Close to 230 students present at the event took full advantage of the opportunity to ask questions and share their passion for maritime professions. Some could already see themselves working on a ship at the end of the session. "Now that I know that doctors can also be found on ships, I will work hard to become one," an upper sixth student remarked, visibly satisfied with this initiative of the CNSC in the interest of the students of Lycée Joss, Douala.
